Three small Caribbean American nonprofits have stepped up to promote National Caribbean American Restaurant Week during National Caribbean American Heritage Month: They are:
The Institute of Caribbean Affairs (ICS) – A nonprofit established in 1993, is dedicated to education, advocacy and action on issues that impact Caribbean Americans. Since 2006, it has served as the campaign chair of National Caribbean American Heritage Month (NCAHM), and since 1994 has produced the National

The National Caribbean Food & Foodways Alliance (NCAFFA) – Through partnerships, NCAFFA, a nonprofit platform, established in 2010, promotes Caribbean cuisine culture and history through its “Eat, Drink Caribbean” campaign , which targets the month of June as Caribbean Cuisine Month, fosters Caribbean Restaurant Week in the DMV and recognizes Caribbean-American food pioneers and
food writers through its Caribbean Cooks &
Books® Celebration.

• Deh Abroad Village (www.dehabroad.org) – A nonprofit founded in October 2020, is a free information portal to an inventory of Caribbean diaspora businesses and has originated and manages a nationwide directory of Caribbean restaurants at caribbeanrestaurantweek.us. Deh Abroad also founded the Caribbean American Restaurant Association focused on NY.

HISTORY
Celebrating Caribbean Restaurant Week simultaneously across the United States began in earnest in 2021. Local celebrations date back as far as 2013.
